Access: PolicyMap houses over 10,000 indicators related to home sales, crime, mortgage originations, demographics, jobs and more for geographies across the U.S. Much of our data comes from public sources like Census, the FBI, the IRS, HHS, and HMDA. Some &ndash like home sale statistics, school performance scores and current demographic data – come from third party data providers. Our data team cleans, assembles and aggregates all of this information and makes it all accessible to you in one place – PolicyMap, a GIS software.

Public data is available to the public for free; subscribers can access proprietary data. All are available in fluid, interactive, thematic maps. See our Data Directory.

"I need to hone in on neighborhood and market level information. With PolicyMap, I can do just that."
Keiva Dennis, Program Manager, National Housing Trust Community Development Fund

Compare and Rank: Our table feature allows you to analyze data through bar charts, line graphs and rankings, displaying multiple locations together for comparison.
Upload: In addition to being able to access the data within PolicyMap, subscribers can upload their own datasets – either by clicking on the map to enter address data or by sending us a spreadsheet of data for upload. Later this winter, you'll soon gain the ability to upload spreadsheets on your own, so stay tuned. Watch our video to see how to upload your own points or learn more about how to send us your spreadsheets.

When you upload data, you can choose to share it with others, with the public – or keep it password protected for yourself only. It's up to you.
Download: Subscribers can download both point and area data from PolicyMap through our Table function. Lists of sites and data values for geographic areas can be saved as csv files. While there are some restrictions on downloading from our data providers, our download feature makes it easy to extract data for your town or zip code so you can incorporate raw data into your own charting or presentation software.
