Every year a public policy think tank called the New America Foundation releases a stream of national education data on school districts throughout the country. The Federal Education Budget Project culls from such varied data sources as the National Center for Education Statistics’ Common Core of Data, State NCLB Report Cards, Thompson Publishing, Census Small Area Income & Poverty Estimates (SAIPE), and State Departments of Education, Health and Agriculture.
Now available on PolicyMap under the Education tab:
- 2009 data on student proficiency, including the percent of 4th graders, 8th graders, and high school students scoring “at or above proficient” in reading and math.
- Number and percent of students in each school district that are English language learners and special education students.
- New data on school district funding, including: school district operating budget, total spending per pupil, and federal spending on No Child Left Behind (NCLB), the National School Lunch Act, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
