Description:

PolicyMap calculated foreign born using Census’ American Community Survey estimates for country of birth among the foreign-born population (Table B05006). The foreign-born population includes anyone who was not a U.S. citizen or a U.S. national at birth and includes both non-U.S. citizens and U.S. citizens by naturalization. Non-U.S. citizens include lawful permanent residents, temporary migrants (such as foreign students), humanitarian migrants (such as refugees and asylees), and unauthorized migrants.

At PolicyMap, predominance is determined by ranking the percentage of country of birth groups within a given geography; the category with the higher percentage is reported as predominant. Ties are displayed randomly but the underlying country of birth percentages are shown for additional clarification.
