The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) provides data on colleges, universities, and technical and vocational postsecondary institutions in the United States.
The point-level community college locations data on PolicyMap consist of all the institutions in the IPEDS’ universe classified as 2-but-less-than-4-year or less than 2-year. The 4-year colleges and universities data consist of all institutions in the IPEDS’ universe classified as four or more years. Most of the data in these datasets applies to the displayed academic year. Enrollment data corresponds to the fall term of the first year in the academic year, while graduation rates correspond to August of that same year. Data regarding institutions’ financial performance reflect Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) reporting. The latitude and longitude of the points were provided by the source.
