2011 National School-Based Health Care Convention

If you are attending the NASBHC national convention in Chicago, come hear Phil Vu in the afternoon session (4:45-6:00) on Tuesday 6/28, where we explore the characteristics of communities seeing the growth of retail-based health clinics, and show how PolicyMap can be used to ask policy questions about the opportunities to use retail-clinics to expand health-care to the underserved. This concept can be used to understand how data and neighborhood characteristics can help find places that would benefit from school-based health care access.

We have built a health widget using data that will be featured in the presentation. In addition to data previously available such as Medically Underserved Areas (MUAs), uninsured populations, and hospital and nursing home locations, we have added several new datasets to our Health tab including:

  • Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)
  • Nurse-practitioner led clinics
  • Retail-based health clinics
